  • Measurements: This is self-explanatory; the larger your door, the more expensive it will be.
  • Installation: Please note that most door quotes only cover the supplies and excludes the cost of labour for installation. You may install the door yourself, but it isn’t recommended unless you’re a professional.
  • Frame: It’s possible to replace your door without getting a new frame, but replacing your frame is ideal because it ensures you get a perfect fit.
  • Design: A plain or flush door is cheaper than, say, a panel door with rails and stiles.

A flush door is flat and made out of a single piece of material, while a panel door is more decorative and, as the name suggests, made out of several panels or pieces of material).

  • Accessories: This includes knockers and letterboxes.
  • Colour or finish: White is the cheapest colour. Aside from paint and varnish, your choice of finishing includes PVC film, laminate, and veneers.
  • Glazing: Good glazing helps reduce your home’s energy consumption. It prevents excess air leakage and heat loss and reduces condensation.

The most energy efficient windows and doors have the Window Energy Rating of A, A+, and A+++.

  • Lock: uPVC, composite, and wood doors often have anti-snap locks that prevent burglary. A more expensive locking system is a smart lock that requires your phone, a key fob, or a keycard to unlock.

The Best Front Doors in Cork

We reviewed reliable front door suppliers in Cork and evaluated them based on the following criteria:

Durability: Are their doors likely to last a long time?
Aesthetic: Are their door designs stylish?
Variety of designs: How many door designs are there to choose from?

Please note that most of these companies also offer other products and services, but for this article, we’re mostly assessing their doors and doors installation service.

Based in Cork, Perfect Home has professional teams in several counties, including Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon. It was founded in 2009 by Polish tradesman Wojciech Lange.

Lange, being a tradesman himself, chooses reliable professionals in his industry. His team has expanded to over ten employees.

Clients are highly satisfied with their installation team. Most praise their punctuality and cleanliness, leaving their homes spotless after repairs or installation.

One client is also happy to share that the team shared valuable advice to save costs without sacrificing quality.

For their Palladio doors, we gave five stars for durability. Palladio doors are designed to last a lifetime, while most composite doors last about three decades.

We’re also impressed by these two tools on their website: their window and door configurator and Palladio door designer.

Both tools let you design bespoke or custom windows and doors that fit your home. Aside from specifying measurements, you can edit details down to colour, glazing, handle type, and more.

When you’re satisfied with your design, you can then submit it with your contact details. Afterward, they’ll reach out to you with your custom quote.

Because their designs are highly customisable, we also gave them five stars for variety.

Another definite plus for us is their flexible payment options. Through humm by flexifi, you can pay them in instalments if you can’t afford to pay in one go.

This is such a lifesaver for anyone on a tight budget.

The only drawback we found for the company is that they don’t offer online quotes. However, we understand this because pricing for these types of jobs differs on a case to case basis.

We still think it would be extremely useful to their clients if they showed cost estimates on their website for at least the materials they use.

Overall, we think they’re a friendly team of tradesmen who offer a variety of window and door designs. We recommend them especially for those on a budget because of their flexible payment options.

Pros

  • Combines durability with pleasant aesthetics
  • Pay by instalments option
  • Fully insured
  • Window and door configurator and Palladio door designer tools
  • Professional and neat door installation team

Cons

  • No online quotes

For over 25 years, Blarney Window Systems has been fitting windows and doors for the Munster region.

We’re happy to note that the company has a showroom where you can view their products. This is great if you want to see your choices in person before purchasing.

If this isn’t convenient for you, you may also browse the brochures on their website or look at their recent projects on their Facebook page.

Another convenience the company offers is their online ordering. Just fill out their contact form, make sure you have your specifications and contact details right, and wait for them to reach out to you with a quote.

To further add to this list of positives, one advantage to the company’s products is that they have U-values as low as 0.8. U-value is used to measure a material’s heat insulation or how well heat can pass through it.

The lower the U-value, the more efficient it is in keeping heat inside your space. This is extremely beneficial for houses in colder climates.

We recommend them to energy-conscious homeowners and business owners.

Like most suppliers on this list, however, they don’t provide online quotes.

Another thing to consider is that the selection on their website might not be up-to-date, so we suggest you visit their showroom if possible. You may take this as a chance to meet their team and see if they would work well for you.

It might be worth the trip, as clients commend the team for top-notch customer service and being pleasurable to work with.

Pros

  • Low U-value
  • Professional and neat door installation team
  • Has a showroom

Cons

  • No online quotes

Founded in 1985, Senator Windows is a well-established window and door supplier all over the country. In Cork, Declan Towney serves as their principal dealer.

Their selection consists of uPVC, composite, and aluminium doors.

As noted in a previous section, each of these materials has varying durability and lifespans. The strongest of which is aluminium.

We appreciate the range they offer, especially in price. These materials come at different price points, with aluminium as the most expensive and uPVC as the cheapest.

It appears to us that there’s a door for every budget and style at Senator Windows.

Another thing we’re glad to note is their multipoint locking system, adding to your home’s security. If paired especially with an aluminium door, this locking system can keep out burglars.

The last on this list of positives is the composite door designer tool on their website. You may use this to customise your new door’s and frame’s styles, layouts, and colours.

The visualizer feature on the tool lets you superimpose your design onto a photo of your home to see if it matches well with your current style.

One potential drawback for customers could be that they don’t offer quotes without a consultation, according to one source.

We understand, however, that it’s hard to give an estimate without knowing specifications.

Another thing to consider is their availability. As a well-established window and door supplier, they may have a long list of clients.

However, one client is very happy to note that despite their busy schedule, their team was able to complete the job before the expected time.

Overall, we recommend them for their range of materials and price points.

If you’re not yet decided on the style of your new door or if you haven’t set a budget yet, it helps to see an offerings list as varied as theirs.

Pros

  • A range of materials and price points
  • Multipoint locking system
  • Composite door designer tool
  • Open on weekends
  • Has dealers all over the country
  • Has showrooms all over the country

Cons

  • Doesn’t offer quotes without a consultation

Tony O’Shea is a distributor of renowned Danish manufacturer Vrøgum. He has worked for over forty years in the industry as a carpenter and builder.

Believing in Vrøgum’s high standards, he has solely used supplies from the manufacturer for almost twenty years.

Vrøgum is mainly known to offer three main window designs: Vrøgum, Svarre, and Solborg. All of which are carefully designed to be weatherproof, enhance home security, and have excellent U-values, minimising heat loss.

As for door designs, however, O’Shea’s website doesn’t go into detail.

Vrøgum’s main website shows that they supply customisable wooden doors with their classic Vrøgum window design integrated into the door’s structure.

So it’s safe to say that O’Shea offers bespoke wooden doors.

O’Shea specifically mentions using premium Scandinavian pine that’s grown sustainably. Pine offers many advantages such as resistance to moisture, swelling, and shrinking.

Unlike other companies, their products are treated with the Vrogum Coat System  and don’t need to be touched for 10 years.  A simple coat on the outside every subsequent decde will keep them indefinitely.

What we really like about this company is their five-year warranty. This is a great assurance to the client.

However, the warranty’s terms aren’t detailed on their website, so we think it’s best you reach out to the company for more info.

Overall, clients are satisfied with the excellent quality of their work. Partnering with a reputable Danish manufacturer, O’Shea delivers elegant designs without compromising quality.

Pros

  • Elegant Danish designs
  • Five-year warranty
  • Official Irish Vrøgum distributor

Cons

  • Softwood
